Vineyards

This Langhe Nebbiolo comes from biodynamically managed vineyards in Piedmont, embracing the region’s limestone and clay soils, which add depth and minerality to the wine. Morra Gabriele’s sustainable approach uses lunar cycles for pruning and natural treatments, aligning with their commitment to vineyard health and environmental balance.

Winemaking

The wine is made from 100% Nebbiolo grapes, undergoing spontaneous fermentation with indigenous yeasts in concrete tanks to enhance purity and maintain varietal character. Following fermentation, the wine ages in a combination of steel and oak for several months without filtration or stabilisation, preserving its authentic structure and flavours.

Appearance

Bright garnet red with ruby reflections.

Nose

Elegant aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and rose petals, with earthy undertones and subtle spice, showcasing the classic Nebbiolo profile.

Palate

A medium-bodied wine with vibrant acidity and well-integrated tannins. Flavours of red fruits, a touch of herbaceousness, and a mineral backbone lead to a refined, lingering finish.

Food pairing

This Nebbiolo pairs beautifully with truffle-based dishes, roasted game, and hard cheeses, complementing both traditional and savoury Italian fare.

Background story

Founded by sommelier Stefano Campaniello and Piedmont farmer Gabriele Testa in 2013, Morra Gabriele is a young but ambitious winery rooted in Barbaresco’s winemaking tradition. During a visit to Campamac Osteria in Piedmont, Tim was recommended a Barbaresco by the sommelier, Stefano, who happened to also be the wine’s producer. Impressed by the quality, he initiated a partnership to import Morra Gabriele’s wines immediately.

Stefano and Gabriele’s approach is rooted in sustainable and biodynamic practices, with lunar pruning cycles and natural infusions for vine health. In the winery, Stefano employs spontaneous fermentation, concrete tanks, and oak aging without filtration or stabilisation, yielding wines that capture Barbaresco’s distinctive terroir and tradition. This artisanal, low-intervention approach has made Morra Gabriele a rising star in Piedmont, celebrated for wines that suit fine dining and reflect the estate's commitment to authenticity.
