Celebrating the South West Sardine Festival in Brixham

Fishing boats and festival tables along Brixham Harbour at the South West Sardine Festival

On Sunday 9 August 2026, Brixham Harbour came alive for the South West Sardine Festival, a celebration of British seafood, local fishing heritage and the people behind it. Sommelier’s Choice was delighted to attend through our partnership with Rockfish and sponsor the Seahorse Grolleau Gris Rosé enjoyed at the event.

A celebration of seafood and community

More than 3,500 visitors gathered on the quayside as chefs grilled over 10,000 sardines. Fishing boats, live music, street entertainment and long communal tables created a wonderful harbourside atmosphere.

Organised in collaboration with Rockfish, Sound Seafood and the Brixham community, the festival was a showcase for the people and traditions of the South West fishing industry.

Seahorse Grolleau Gris Rosé at the festival

As part of our partnership with Rockfish, we were proud to sponsor Seahorse Grolleau Gris Rosé by Domaine du Haut Bourg. Made from Grolleau in the Loire Valley, this fresh rosé was a fitting choice for a day devoted to seafood and good company.

Good food, good wine and lasting partnerships

Our relationships across hospitality are built on a shared appreciation of quality, provenance and memorable experiences around the table. It was a pleasure to join Rockfish and the Brixham community for this special occasion.

Thank you to the organisers, chefs and volunteers who made the festival possible. We look forward to seeing it continue to grow.
