About Us
Sommelier’s Choice was founded in 1999 by Tim Green, a former chef whose career in wine led him to become UK Sommelier of the Year.
What began with a formative trip to Italy soon developed into a clear purpose: to import distinctive, restaurant-quality wines directly from producers not yet represented in the UK, originally with the fine dining restaurant scene in mind.
More than 25 years later, that founding approach remains at the heart of the business. We continue to work with many of the same family-owned estates, while introducing new producers whose wines offer quality, character, and a genuine sense of place.
Today, Sommelier’s Choice serves both trade and private customers, bringing together hospitality expertise, direct producer relationships, and a carefully curated portfolio of wines from France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and beyond.

Our Philosophy
At the heart of Sommelier’s Choice is a simple belief: great wine reflects people, place, and purpose.
We work closely with boutique, often family-owned producers who share our commitment to quality, thoughtful viticulture, and long-term consistency. Many farm sustainably, organically, or biodynamically, even where formal certification is not always in place.
Our portfolio is not built around volume. It is built around wines with identity — wines that speak of their region, their producer, and the care behind them.
Relationships That Last
Sommelier’s Choice has always been a relationship-led business.
Many of our producer partnerships have been built over decades, founded on trust, shared standards, and a mutual belief in wines of authenticity and character. These relationships allow us to offer wines with strong provenance, continuity, and a story worth sharing.
The same approach applies to our customers. Whether working with restaurants, independent retailers, collectors, or private customers, we take time to understand what is needed and offer advice that is personal, practical, and considered.

Through producer stories, tasting notes, food pairing guidance, winemaker events, and private tastings, we aim to bring our customers closer to the people and places behind the wines.
Our Sommelier’s Circle continues that idea — offering members early access to selected wines, event invitations, exclusive offers, and behind-the-scenes insight from our producers and team.
Fine Wine & Private Customers
Alongside our wider collection, we also advise private customers on fine wine, cellar selections, gifting, and occasional allocations.
Whether sourcing wines for drinking, cellaring, gifting, or investment purposes, our approach remains discreet, informed, and grounded in provenance.
We can also assist customers looking to release well-stored wines with known history and suitable condition.
