Vineyards

The Le Plateau vineyard, situated within the Morgon appellation in Beaujolais, occupies a prime position with a higher elevation and well-drained granite soils. The vines, aged between 50 and 80 years, benefit from the vineyard’s unique microclimate, which contributes to the wine’s intensity and complexity. Sustainable viticulture practices and minimal intervention methods are employed to preserve the natural balance of the ecosystem and ensure the authentic expression of this exceptional terroir.

Winemaking

The grapes for Le Plateau 2020 were hand-harvested and underwent traditional semi-carbonic maceration to preserve the fruit’s vibrant character and aromatic depth. Following fermentation, the wine was aged for 12 months in a combination of neutral oak barrels and stainless steel, allowing the purity of the fruit and the terroir to shine while adding subtle complexity.

Appearance

Deep ruby with purple reflections, reflecting its concentration and youthful vibrancy.

Nose

An intense bouquet of blackberries, cassis, and wild strawberries is complemented by notes of violets, crushed stone, and a touch of black pepper.

Palate

The palate is full-bodied and structured, with flavours of ripe black fruits, red cherries, and hints of liquorice. The tannins are firm yet refined, providing a solid backbone, while fresh acidity adds vibrancy. The finish is long and mineral-driven, with lingering notes of spice and dark fruit.

Food pairing

This Morgon pairs exceptionally well with roasted lamb, braised beef, or hearty mushroom dishes. It also complements charcuterie boards, hard cheeses, and rich casseroles, making it a versatile wine for robust cuisine.
