Vineyards and winemaking

This 2025 Cartizze is made solely from Glera grown within the celebrated Cartizze hill of Valdobbiadene. The steep, fully south-facing vineyards rise from around 230 to 320 metres above sea level, with thin limestone and marl-derived soils that benefit from abundant sunlight and a distinctive local microclimate.

The grapes are pressed and the cooled must ferments in temperature-controlled stainless steel. A second fermentation in pressurised tanks using the Charmat method creates its fine mousse. Made in the traditional Dry style, Cartizze combines gentle sweetness with freshness and a delicately savoury undertone.

Tasting notes

Appearance

Luminous straw yellow, with slender, creamy bubbles.

Nose

Williams pear and fresh apricot are layered with rose petal, white peach and a light suggestion of citrus blossom.

Palate

Rounded and graceful, offering ripe pear, peach and soft floral flavours. The sweetness is delicately judged, refreshed by fine acidity and a subtle savoury note, while the mousse gives the finish a smooth, polished feel.

Food pairing

Delightful with a pear frangipane tart, shortbread, poached peaches or a classic trifle. For a savoury contrast, serve it with Gorgonzola, glazed cocktail sausages or lightly spiced chicken skewers.

Background story

Cartizze is the historic summit of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene denomination: a small, steeply worked hillside whose exposure, soils and microclimate give Glera an especially fragrant and generous expression.

Nino Franco has produced sparkling wine in Valdobbiadene since 1919. Across four generations, the family has helped move Prosecco towards a clearer expression of individual vineyards and places, with Cartizze remaining one of the region’s most prized and traditional wines.
