Vineyards
Château Valandraud is a Premier Grand Cru Classé estate in Saint-Émilion, known for meticulous vineyard management and a modern approach. This vintage is a blend of approximately 75% Merlot with 25% Cabernet Franc, cultivated on limestone-rich soils, which impart mineral complexity to the wine.
Winemaking
Produced under the expertise of Jean-Luc Thunevin, the wine underwent a long maceration and fermentation in stainless steel and concrete vats with regular punching down to maximise flavour. Aging took place in 100% new French oak barrels, allowing integration of tannins and enhanced depth.
Appearance
A deep garnet hue with ruby highlights, showing both intensity and elegance.
Nose
Rich aromas of blackberry, plum, and dark cherry combine with notes of espresso, cedar, and a hint of tobacco, embodying the classic Saint-Émilion profile.
Palate
This full-bodied wine offers layers of ripe dark fruit, complemented by firm tannins and lively acidity. The finish is lengthy, with undertones of dark chocolate, minerals, and subtle earthiness.
Food pairing
An ideal companion for roast lamb, beef, and game, enhancing the wine’s structure and rich flavours.
