Vineyards
Domaine de Bellene's Beaune 1er Cru "Les Grèves" 2015 originates from vineyards in the renowned "Les Grèves" Premier Cru climat of Beaune, Burgundy. The vines, aged between 50 and 110 years, are cultivated using biodynamic methods, fostering a balanced ecosystem and enhancing the expression of the terroir. The vineyard's limestone-rich soils contribute to the wine's elegance and minerality.
Winemaking
The 2015 vintage was marked by favourable conditions, yielding grapes of exceptional ripeness and concentration. Harvested by hand, the grapes underwent traditional fermentation with indigenous yeasts in open-top wooden casks, without temperature control. A portion of whole clusters was included to add complexity and sweetness to the mid-palate. The wine was then aged for 11 months in French oak barrels, with a significant proportion being new oak, imparting structure and depth. Bottling was done without fining or filtration to preserve the wine's authenticity.
Appearance
Deep ruby red with garnet hues, indicating maturity and concentration.
Nose
Aromas of violets, black cherry, and exotic spices are complemented by notes of roasted coffee and dark chocolate, reflecting the complexity of the "Les Grèves" terroir.
Palate
The palate is rich and full-bodied, showcasing concentrated ripe fruit flavours balanced by chewy yet silky tannins. The wine's depth and structure suggest excellent cellaring potential, with a harmonious finish that lingers elegantly.
Food pairing
This Premier Cru pairs well with roasted meats, game dishes, and mature cheeses. Its complexity and depth also complement truffle-based dishes and hearty stews, enhancing the dining experience.
