Appearance

Deep amber with hints of mahogany, reflecting over a century of aging, with remarkable clarity and depth.

Nose

A highly complex aroma fills the room upon opening, with intense notes of dried fruit, aged leather, and a gentle spice. Subtle hints of rancio—a characteristic nutty, oxidative note from long aging—are balanced by earthy undertones and a faint trace of caramelised vanilla.

Palate

Immediately smooth, the palate delivers flavours of rich fig, prunes, and a touch of cedar, with an elegant roundness that develops slowly. The finish is extraordinarily long, with persistent earthy and nutty notes, a refined warmth, and a softness that lingers—a testament to its age and craftsmanship.

About

Founded in 1832, Castarède is the oldest Armagnac house in France and remains family-owned. Located in Bas-Armagnac, Castarède is celebrated for producing some of the finest vintage Armagnacs, matured in traditional cellars along the Garonne River.

The 1900 vintage is a true rarity, aged for over a century to achieve exceptional smoothness and depth. Each bottle represents a unique piece of history (the grapes for this Armagnac were picked when Queen Victoria was still on the throne!).
