Vineyards

The Costa di Giulia vineyards, situated in Bolgheri, benefit from the region's Mediterranean climate, with soils enriched by the nearby sea breeze. The terroir lends the wine both minerality and freshness, essential to this unique Bolgheri white blend.

Winemaking

This vintage is a blend of 70% Vermentino and 30% Sauvignon Blanc, harvested in early to mid-September. After gentle pressing, the must is naturally decanted at cool temperatures and then fermented at a low temperature, preserving its aromatic expression. The wine is aged on its fine lees in stainless steel for several months to enhance depth and texture before spring bottling.

Appearance

Bright straw yellow with golden highlights, indicative of its age and maturity.

Nose

Aromas of white peach, pear, and a touch of yellow apple combine with herbal and floral notes, including hints of mint and acacia.

Palate

On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied with a well-integrated acidity that brings vibrancy. The flavours have evolved over time, showcasing ripe stone fruit, citrus zest, and a distinct saline minerality. The finish is elegant, with a light touch of almond and a gentle, lingering salinity.

Food Pairing

This wine pairs beautifully with seafood dishes, grilled vegetables, or herb-roasted chicken, complementing its refreshing acidity and minerality.

Background Story

Founded in 1983, Michele Satta’s winery is located in the acclaimed Bolgheri region of Tuscany, Italy, a place renowned for its unique terroir and the production of some of Italy's most distinguished wines. Michele Satta, originally from Varese, settled in Bolgheri to cultivate wines that express the region's Mediterranean climate and diverse soils. Over the years, he has pioneered the use of unconventional grape varieties in Bolgheri, such as Sangiovese, Syrah, and Teroldego, blending these with traditional Bordeaux varietals to create distinctive, balanced wines that showcase both local heritage and innovation.

Michele Satta’s philosophy centres on minimal intervention in both the vineyard and winery. He prioritises organic practices, hand-harvesting, and small-batch vinification to preserve the purity of each variety and terroir. His range includes both monovarietal and blended wines, reflecting the diversity of Bolgheri while maintaining a commitment to authenticity and character. The wines are aged in French oak barrels, which enhance their complexity while allowing the natural fruit expression to shine through.
