Vineyards and winemaking

Fulget Cuvée is made from Albariño grown in Maior de Mendoza's sustainably farmed vineyards in the Val do Salnés. Granite, fragmented rock and sand provide free drainage, while the nearby Atlantic moderates the growing season and gives the fruit the acidity and aromatic definition associated with coastal Rías Baixas.

The 2025 grapes were harvested by hand and given a very low-temperature skin maceration. A deliberately shorter alcoholic fermentation is used to shape the wine's fruit profile, and malolactic fermentation is avoided, distinguishing Cuvée from the classic Fulget and preserving a brighter, more direct line of acidity.

Tasting notes

Appearance

Pale straw yellow with vivid green reflections and youthful brilliance.

Nose

White peach, apricot and Conference pear are lifted by lime blossom and a light note of pineapple, with a fresh Atlantic breeze running beneath the ripe fruit.

Palate

Vibrant and rounded, with juicy stone fruit given shape by clean citrus acidity. The low-temperature maceration brings aromatic intensity and a gentle suppleness, while the absence of malolactic fermentation leaves the finish crisp, persistent and mouth-watering.

Food pairing

Serve with king prawns and garlic, crab cakes, sea trout with cucumber, or courgette fritters with mint yoghurt. Its ripe fruit can handle mild chilli and ginger, making it an inviting partner for aromatic Thai or Vietnamese dishes.

Background story

The Barros family planted Albariño on a significant scale in the 1970s, before the creation of the Rías Baixas denomination. Their estate above Carril has since become closely associated with environmentally considerate vineyard work, indigenous yeasts and the exploration of different ways to express a single regional variety.

Fulget Cuvée is not simply a richer version of Fulget. Its colder maceration, shorter fermentation and avoidance of malolactic conversion create a distinct expression centred on perfume, ripe fruit and Atlantic freshness, giving the 2025 an immediately engaging but precisely drawn character.
