After acquiring an ancestral family vineyard that had existed for hundreds of years, Quinta da Boa Esperança was established by Artur Gama and his wife Eva in 2014. Their 11 hectares of organic vineyards lie in the heart of Zibreira, within the renowned Lisbon Wine Region. Benefiting from proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and Montejunto Ridge, the vineyards enjoy high elevation, ample sun exposure, and maritime influences, cultivating exceptional grapes of both local and international varietals, including Fernão Pires, Arinto, Sauvignon Blanc, Alvarinho, Syrah, Touriga Nacional, and Alicante Bouschet.

Dedicated to sustainability, the Gama family adheres to organic principles, extending their eco-friendly practices to growing their own vegetables, fruit, herbs, and breeding chickens in their kitchen garden. This holistic approach ensures a harmonious coexistence with nature, reflected in their meticulous vineyard care, minimal intervention, and manual harvesting, resulting in wines that truly express the essence of their land.

Quinta da Boa Esperança Branco Reserva 2018
Grapes: 60% Arinto, 40% Fernão Pires

Vineyards:
The organic vineyards of Quinta da Boa Esperança are located north of Lisbon, at a higher altitude near the historic fishing town of Ericeira, which is also known as a world-class surfing destination. This geographical location benefits the vineyards with both maritime and altitude influences, contributing to the freshness and balance of the wines produced there

Winemaking:

The wine undergoes fermentation in new French oak barrels for 80% of the batch, while 20% ferments in stainless steel tanks. Following fermentation, the wine is aged on its lees with batonnage (stirring) for six months in barrels and then matured for an additional 12 months in bottle before release. This meticulous process creates a wine that balances structure with freshness, offering a rich, complex profile.

Sight:
Citric in colour with pale reflections, indicating freshness and vibrancy.

Nose:
Floral and citrus notes dominate the bouquet, with a minerality typical of the terroir. The oak influence adds depth and subtle vanilla undertones.

Palate:
The wine is unctuous and well-balanced, offering fresh acidity that enhances its structure. Rich and intense, it has a lingering, persistent finish, making it an excellent choice for those seeking a complex yet refreshing white wine.

Food Match:
Ideal for pairing with rich seafood dishes, creamy pastas, or roasted poultry. Its balanced acidity and structure also make it a perfect match for lighter cheeses.
