Vineyards
Bâtard-Montrachet Grand Cru lies just below Montrachet, sharing its renowned terroir but with slightly deeper soils, imparting a richer and more opulent character to the wines. The vineyard benefits from excellent drainage due to its limestone-rich subsoil, while its position on the slope ensures optimal sun exposure, contributing to the concentration and ripeness of the fruit.
Winemaking
The grapes are meticulously hand-harvested and sorted to ensure only the finest fruit is used. Fermentation is carried out with indigenous yeasts in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, with approximately 30% being new. This aging process enhances the wine’s texture, depth, and complexity while preserving its hallmark freshness and balance.
Appearance
Brilliant gold with subtle green hues, reflecting its youth and vibrancy.
Nose
The nose is opulent and layered, offering aromas of ripe pear, baked apple, and citrus zest, intertwined with notes of toasted brioche, vanilla, and a hint of flint.
Palate
Rich and full-bodied, this Grand Cru exhibits remarkable intensity and precision. Flavours of yellow peach, lemon curd, and apricot are underpinned by a creamy texture and vibrant acidity. Subtle nuances of hazelnut, spice, and a wet stone minerality add complexity, leading to a long, elegant finish with exceptional balance and finesse.
Food pairing
Perfectly suited to indulgent dishes such as butter-poached lobster, roasted turbot with a saffron beurre blanc, or creamy pasta with white truffle. It also pairs beautifully with aged cheeses like Comté or Gruyère.
