100 % Albariño
Cabana das Bolboretas, located in the heart of Rías Baixas, Galicia, is a boutique vineyard located 20km from the Atlantic with vines aged over 30 years old making exceptional sparkling wine from Albariño. The name, which evokes the image of delicate bubbles breaking the surface of the sea, reflects the vineyard’s commitment to capturing the essence of its maritime terroir. Gorgola, their standout cuvée, is handcrafted on a very small scale using traditional Champagne methods, ensuring the highest quality and a distinct character.
The 2015 vintage of Gorgola is a testament to Cabana das Bolboretas' meticulous craftsmanship. Made exclusively from Albariño grapes from a single harvest, this Blanc de Blanc was disgorged in the spring of 2018 after 26 months of secondary fermentation and bottle ageing. Classified as ‘Extra Brut’ with a residual sugar content between 3g and 6g, it delivers a dry, mineral-driven profile. The wine's unique characteristic is its recognisable Albariño signature—a salty zest on the tongue, combined with
flinty, mineral fruit.
This boutique vineyard is operated by five friends united by a passion for winemaking and a philosophy that prioritises letting nature take its course. With micro-production levels, each cuvée is limited to just a few thousand bottles. Consequently, these exclusive wines are seldom found outside of Michelin-starred restaurants in Spain. Cabana das Bolboretas' approach not only highlights the best attributes of the Albariño grape but also pays homage to the rich winemaking traditions of Galicia (and Champagne!).
