Vineyards
Nuits-Saint-Georges Les Vignes Rondes 2009 is crafted from a premier cru vineyard located in the southern part of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation in Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits. The vineyard’s name, "Vignes Rondes," reflects its gently undulating terrain. The soils are rich in limestone and clay, providing excellent drainage and imparting a distinctive minerality to the wine. The vines, averaging 45 years in age, are cultivated with sustainable practices to ensure the health of the vineyard and its surrounding ecosystem.
Winemaking
The grapes were hand-harvested and meticulously sorted to ensure only the finest fruit was used. Fermentation occurred in open-top stainless steel tanks with natural yeasts, followed by gentle punch-downs to extract colour and tannins. The wine was aged for 16 months in French oak barrels, 30% of which were new, adding layers of complexity and structure while preserving the purity of the fruit.
Appearance
Bright ruby red with garnet highlights, reflecting its age and concentration.
Nose
The nose is expressive and elegant, offering aromas of ripe red cherries, raspberries, and wild strawberries, interwoven with floral notes of rose petals and violets. Subtle hints of spice, earth, and toasted oak add depth.
Palate
On the palate, this premier cru Pinot Noir is medium-bodied and refined, with a silky texture and vibrant acidity. Flavours of red berries, pomegranate, and cranberry are complemented by savoury undertones of truffle and a touch of sweet spice. The finish is long and harmonious, with lingering mineral notes.
Food pairing
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted duck, coq au vin, or lamb chops with rosemary. It also complements earthy vegetarian dishes such as wild mushroom risotto and soft cheeses like Reblochon or Brie.
