Vineyards
Nuits-Saint-Georges Clos de la Maréchale 2015 is produced from a monopole vineyard owned exclusively by Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier. Located in the southern part of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation, Clos de la Maréchale is one of the largest single vineyard sites in Burgundy, spanning 9.55 hectares. The vineyard’s limestone-rich soils, combined with a gentle slope and ideal sun exposure, provide an exceptional terroir for Pinot Noir. Sustainable viticulture practices are employed to preserve the vineyard’s natural ecosystem.
Winemaking
The grapes are meticulously hand-harvested and sorted to ensure only the finest fruit is used. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks using natural yeasts, with gentle extraction techniques to preserve the purity of the fruit. The wine is aged for 16-18 months in French oak barrels, 20% of which are new, imparting subtle oak influence while maintaining balance and elegance.
Appearance
Bright ruby red with garnet reflections.
Nose
The nose is refined and expressive, offering aromas of red cherry, raspberry, and wild strawberry, layered with floral notes of violet and rose petal. Subtle hints of spice, earth, and toasted oak add complexity.
Palate
On the palate, this Pinot Noir is medium-bodied and well-structured, with silky tannins and vibrant acidity. Flavours of red berries, pomegranate, and cranberry are complemented by earthy undertones and a touch of sweet spice. The finish is long and elegant, with a mineral-driven freshness.
Food pairing
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted duck, coq au vin, or lamb chops with rosemary. It also complements earthy vegetarian dishes like wild mushroom risotto and soft cheeses such as Reblochon or Brie.
