Once almost forgotten, Nuragus is one of Sardinia’s oldest native varieties, known for its fresh and delicate nature with a bright and refreshing profile,
Vineyards
The Nuragus grapes for this wine are cultivated in Audarya's Acquasassa Estate, located in Serdiana at an altitude of 160 metres above sea level. The 15-year-old vines are trained using the espaliered bush system and thrive in clay-limestone soils. The Mediterranean climate, influenced by cooling sea breezes from the Gulf of Cagliari, allows for a slow and balanced ripening process, enhancing the delicate flavours and maintaining the natural acidity of the Nuragus varietal.
Winemaking
The 2021 vintage experienced favourable conditions, leading to healthy and expressive fruit. Hand-harvested in late September, the grapes underwent gentle pressing in pneumatic presses. The must was cold-clarified by natural decanting before fermenting in stainless steel vats at approximately 16°C to preserve the grape's aromatic profile. A short ageing period on fine lees followed, promoting natural stabilisation and enhancing flavour harmony. No oak ageing was employed, resulting in a wine that showcases the pure expression of the Nuragus grape. The 2021 vintage has an alcohol content of 13%.

Background Story
Audarya, an ancient Sanskrit word meaning "nobility of spirit," reflects the humble devotion of Sardinian farmers to their vineyards. This spirit drives the Pala family, who have been crafting exceptional wines for over 80 years. Nicoletta and Salvatore Pala, the newest generation, continue the family tradition with a modern approach, blending ancient winemaking practices with innovative techniques.
Located in southeastern Sardinia, Audarya’s four estates – Audarya, Acquasassa, Su Stani, and Is Crabilis – are home to vines averaging 25 years of age. These sites, characterised by their limestone, marl, and clay soils, benefit from the cooling influences of the nearby Gulf. Audarya’s dedication to Sardinia’s autochthonous grape varieties and its commitment to quality is evident in their wines, which embody the family’s passion for winemaking and the island’s unique terroir.
