Vineyards
The Palazzina Moscato d'Asti originates from the Il Cascinone estate in Piemonte, Italy. The Moscato Bianco grapes are grown on vineyards with a yield of 3,000 litres per hectare, using traditional methods that focus on preserving the vibrant fruit character inherent to the region's terroir.
Winemaking
This Moscato d'Asti is made from 100% Moscato Bianco grapes, which are hand-harvested later than typical, in the second half of October. The grapes undergo drying on traditional Italian rush mats called graticci, losing around 40% of their water content, which intensifies the natural sugars. The whole clusters are then pressed, and fermentation occurs slowly in oak barrels over two months, followed by additional aging in stainless steel and a portion in oak, enhancing both freshness and complexity.
Appearance
Pale golden yellow, with a brilliant and enticing sparkle.
Nose
The aroma is richly expressive with notes of lemon curd, marmalade, and orange peel, accompanied by fragrant honeysuckle, giving it a fresh and floral profile.
Palate
On the palate, the wine displays flavours of ripe apricot, acacia honey, and a pleasing honeyed sweetness balanced by a bright citrus zest. This balance of sweetness and acidity leads to a lingering, refreshing finish.
Food pairing
Pairs beautifully with mature cheeses or light desserts, such as fruit tarts, or enjoyed as a standalone dessert wine.
