Vineyards
The Lamborghini estate, Tenuta Patrizia Lamborghini, is situated near Lake Trasimeno in Umbria, where the climate and clay soils enhance grape ripening, particularly for the Merlot and Sangiovese in this blend. These conditions allow the production of full-bodied, structured wines that capture the distinct terroir of the Colli del Trasimeno.
Winemaking
Campoleone 1997 is a meticulous 50/50 blend of Merlot and Sangiovese, vinified separately and aged in French oak barrels, imparting a refined oak influence with deep flavour complexity. Renowned winemaker Riccardo Cotarella employed extended maceration, natural fermentation, and malolactic fermentation to ensure a richly layered wine. This process emphasised the wine’s robust tannic structure, intense colour, and potential for ageing gracefully.
Appearance

Palate
This is a full-bodied, well-structured wine with a rich and velvety texture. Its flavour profile is marked by black fruit, dark chocolate, and spice, with earthy minerality and balanced acidity providing a harmonious mouthfeel. The tannins are both bold and smooth, leading to a long, lingering finish with complex notes of vanilla, forest floor, and a subtle smokiness.
Food pairing
This wine pairs exquisitely with richly flavoured dishes like venison, braised beef, and game, as well as strong cheeses, allowing its depth and layered flavours to shine.
