Vineyards

Sourced from vineyards situated across the river from Châteauneuf-du-Pape and neighbouring the Lirac Cru, the terroir comprises a mixture of pebbles and sandy soil. This composition, coupled with the region's sunny and windy climate, provides optimal conditions for cultivating Grenache Noir, Syrah, Carignan, and Mourvèdre, contributing to the wine's complexity and depth.

Winemaking

The blend consists of 60% Grenache Noir, 20% Syrah, and 20% Carignan and Mourvèdre. Grapes are harvested at optimal maturity and vinified using a combination of modern and traditional techniques to allow the different varietals and terroirs to best express themselves within the eventual blend. No oak ageing is employed, preserving the purity of the Grenache fruit flavours.

Deep ruby with violet tints, indicating its vibrancy and concentration.

Aromas of red fruits with a hint of pepper spice, reflecting its Rhône Valley origins.

The palate offers delicious smooth fruity flavours, with an easy-drinking profile that balances fruitiness and subtle spice.

Background story

Founded in 1938 and uniquely inaugurated by President Albert Lebrun, Vignerons de Tavel & Lirac stands as one of France's most esteemed wine cooperatives. Its headquarters, designed in “neo-Provençal” style by architect Henri Floutier and sculptor Armand Pellier, is built from local stone and holds the distinction of a protected national monument, embodying the deep ties between the winery and its Rhône Valley terroir.

The cooperative’s union with Cave des Vins du Cru Lirac allows it to offer a diverse portfolio that includes the celebrated Crus of AOP Lirac and Tavel, along with select Côtes du Rhône and Vin de Pays wines. They work with over a dozen grape varieties, each vinified separately to capture the unique attributes of the terroir, producing wines that reflect both the richness and freshness of the Rhône region.
