Vineyards
The Dolcetto grapes for this wine are sourced from select vineyard sites around the village of La Morra in Piedmont, situated at an altitude of approximately 250 to 400 metres. The region's calcareous clay soils, coupled with the temperate microclimate of the Langhe hills, provide ideal growing conditions for Dolcetto. Sustainable viticulture is practised, with great care taken to preserve the natural biodiversity of the land.
Winemaking
Made from 100% Dolcetto, the grapes are hand-harvested at optimal ripeness. After gentle pressing, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures to preserve the grape's fresh fruit character. The wine undergoes a short period of maceration to extract colour and soft tannins. After fermentation, it is left to rest in stainless steel for a few months before bottling, allowing the wine to retain its bright fruit expression and freshness.
Appearance
Brilliant ruby red with violet reflections, indicative of its vibrant character.
Nose
The bouquet offers enticing aromas of red cherries, wild berries, and a hint of violets, complemented by delicate spicy notes and a touch of almond.
Palate
On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and fresh, showcasing flavours of redcurrants, blackberries, and a touch of liquorice. The well-balanced acidity and soft tannins contribute to a smooth texture, while a light mineral edge adds complexity. The finish is clean and pleasantly lingering, with notes of red fruit and a slight herbal hint.
Food pairing
This Dolcetto pairs beautifully with antipasti, pasta dishes with tomato-based sauces, roasted poultry, and mild cheeses. Its bright acidity and fruit-forward nature also make it a great match for pizza or grilled vegetables.
