After acquiring an ancestral family vineyard that had existed for hundreds of years, Quinta da Boa Esperança was established by Artur Gama and his wife Eva in 2014. Their 11 hectares of organic vineyards lie in the heart of Zibreira, within the renowned Lisbon Wine Region. Benefiting from proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and Montejunto Ridge, the vineyards enjoy high elevation, ample sun exposure, and maritime influences, cultivating exceptional grapes of both local and international varietals, including Fernão Pires, Arinto, Sauvignon Blanc, Alvarinho, Syrah, Touriga Nacional, and Alicante Bouschet.

Dedicated to sustainability, the Gama family adheres to organic principles, extending their eco-friendly practices to growing their own vegetables, fruit, herbs, and breeding chickens in their kitchen garden. This holistic approach ensures a harmonious coexistence with nature, reflected in their meticulous vineyard care, minimal intervention, and manual harvesting, resulting in wines that truly express the essence of their land.

Quinta da Boa Esperança Colheita Tinto 2018
Grapes: 33.3% Castelão, 33.3% Syrah, 33.4% Aragonez

Vineyards:
The organic vineyards of Quinta da Boa Esperança are located north of Lisbon, at a higher altitude near the historic fishing town of Ericeira, which is also known as a world-class surfing destination. This geographical location benefits the vineyards with both maritime and altitude influences, contributing to the freshness and balance of the wines produced there

Winemaking:

The grapes undergo total destemming followed by pre-fermentative maceration at 8°C to extract flavour and colour. The wine ferments at controlled temperatures in conical vats and is aged in the bottle for 12 months, allowing the tannins to soften and the flavours to integrate.

Sight:
An intense garnet colour, indicative of its concentration and depth.

Nose:
The bouquet offers dominant red fruit aromas, complemented by hints of blackberries and spices, showcasing the wine’s complexity and balance.

Palate:
The palate is well-structured with a harmonious blend of ripe fruit and spice. The tannins, while present, are well-rounded, contributing to a smooth texture. The wine's freshness and mineral undertones provide a balanced finish that lingers pleasantly.

Food Match:
This wine pairs beautifully with grilled meats, hearty stews, and mature cheeses, making it ideal for robust and flavourful dishes.
