Vineyards
The Klein Constantia Estate is one of South Africa’s oldest and most revered wine estates, with a history dating back to 1685. Situated on the slopes of the Constantiaberg mountain, the vineyards benefit from a unique maritime climate and decomposed granite soils, which contribute to the distinct character of Vin de Constance. The 2008 vintage was harvested during optimal conditions, ensuring fruit with intense concentration and vibrant acidity.
Winemaking
Vin de Constance is made from Muscat de Frontignan grapes that are left to partially raisin on the vine, concentrating their flavours and sugars. The grapes are meticulously hand-harvested in multiple passes to ensure only the ripest berries are selected. After gentle pressing, the juice undergoes a slow fermentation, followed by ageing for four years in a combination of French oak, Hungarian oak, and acacia barrels. This meticulous process enhances the wine’s complexity and longevity.

The nose is highly aromatic, offering a bouquet of dried apricots, honeycomb, marmalade, and orange peel, interwoven with floral notes and a hint of spice.
Palate
