Vineyards and winemaking
Pinot Grigio Gregoris 2023 is crafted from carefully selected grapes sourced from the Fattori vineyards located in the Alpone Valley of Veneto. The vines, ranging from 150 to 450 metres above sea level, thrive in a mix of basalt and clay soils, contributing to the wine's distinctive minerality and freshness. The grapes are hand-harvested, followed by gentle pressing and fermentation in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures to retain the varietal's classic aromas. This meticulous approach allows the wine to showcase the vibrant fruit character and balanced acidity typical of Pinot Grigio.
Appearance
The wine exhibits a bright straw yellow colour, with glimmers of green reflecting its youthful vibrancy.
Nose
The bouquet is inviting, presenting a medley of fresh pear, green apple, and citrus notes, complemented by subtle floral hints.
Palate
On the palate, Pinot Grigio Gregoris is fresh and lively, offering flavours of ripe stone fruits and zesty citrus. Its crisp acidity balances the fruitiness, leading to a clean and refreshing finish that lingers pleasantly.
Food pairing
This Pinot Grigio pairs beautifully with seafood dishes, light salads, and grilled vegetables. Its versatility also makes it an excellent choice for pairing with creamy pasta dishes and white meats, enhancing the overall dining experience.
Background story
Antonio Fattori Winery, located in Ronca, Veneto, was founded by Antonio Fattori in the early 1980s, following his oenology studies in Italy and France. Alongside his brother Giovanni, they shifted the family's estate towards producing wines under their own label in the 1990s, gaining recognition for their clean, fruit-forward character and balanced acidity. Antonio’s extensive travels, particularly to New Zealand, have greatly influenced their winemaking style, leading to the creation of vibrant and elegant wines that embody the unique terroir of the region.
The Fattori vineyards, established by their grandfather in the early 20th century, span altitudes of 150 to 450 metres on the basalt slopes of the Alpone Valley, extending into the Valpolicella region. Antonio's meticulous viticulture includes a minimal-intervention approach, where each vine is carefully matched to its specific microclimate. His commitment to sustainable practices is evident in their organic methods and adaptive strategies for climatic challenges. This focus enhances the minerality and freshness of their wines, reflecting the winery's dedication to quality and innovation.
