Palate

Silky and well-rounded, the palate delivers layers of caramelised fruit, roasted nuts, and candied orange zest. Gentle oak influence provides structure, while hints of liquorice and cocoa add richness. The finish is long and warming, with lingering notes of spice and dried fruit.

Key production details

Distilled in 1987 at Château de Bordeneuve, this vintage Armagnac was crafted using a traditional copper alembic still and aged in French oak barrels for over 30 years. The estate’s ancient cellars, with beaten earth floors, provide ideal conditions for long-term aging, resulting in a spirit of great depth and elegance. Baron de Sigognac continues to uphold time-honoured methods, ensuring authenticity and quality in every bottle.

Serving suggestions

Serve neat in a tulip-shaped glass to fully appreciate its complex aromas and flavours. This vintage pairs well with spiced desserts such as ginger cake or poached pears, and is a fine companion to aged cheeses or a well-chosen cigar.

Background story

Baron de Sigognac is one of the oldest Armagnac producers in Gascony, with the Guasch family’s roots in the region tracing back to the 12th century. The estate, located on 42 hectares of prime Bas-Armagnac terroir near Eauze, has been exclusively dedicated to Armagnac production since 1980. The vineyard cultivates traditional grape varieties—Baco and Ugni Blanc—that are perfectly suited to the region’s sandy soils and unique microclimate.

Distillation is performed using a rare copper alembic still from 1921. Each vintage is aged in hand-crafted French oak barrels and bottled only when it reaches peak maturity. Baron de Sigognac’s vintage collection, which includes bottlings dating back to 1830, reflects centuries of craftsmanship and heritage.
