The nose reveals a vibrant bouquet of dried fruits, including figs and dates, layered with notes of vanilla, toasted almonds, and a touch of honey. Subtle hints of spice and oak add complexity.

Palate

Smooth and balanced, the palate offers flavours of caramelised orchard fruits, roasted nuts, and candied orange peel. A gentle oak influence imparts structure, while soft spices and a hint of cocoa add depth. The finish is long and warming, with lingering notes of dried fruit and vanilla.

Key production details

Distilled in 1994 at Château de Bordeneuve using a traditional copper alembic still, this vintage Armagnac was aged for decades in French oak barrels. The estate’s medieval cellars, with their beaten earth floors, create the perfect environment for long-term maturation, allowing the spirit to develop complexity and refinement. Baron de Sigognac’s dedication to traditional methods ensures each vintage is crafted with precision and care.

Serving suggestions

Best enjoyed neat in a tulip-shaped glass to fully appreciate its layered aromas and flavours. This vintage pairs well with rich desserts such as tarte Tatin or almond cake, and is an excellent companion to a fine cigar or artisanal cheeses.

Background story

Baron de Sigognac is a renowned Armagnac house owned by the Guasch family, whose history in Gascony dates back to the 12th century. Situated on 42 hectares of prime Bas-Armagnac terroir near Eauze, the estate has been dedicated exclusively to Armagnac production since 1980. The vineyard cultivates traditional grape varieties such as Baco and Ugni Blanc, perfectly suited to the region’s tawny-sandy soils and favourable microclimate.

The distillation process is carried out using a rare copper alembic still dating back to 1921. Each vintage is aged in French oak barrels until it reaches peak maturity. Baron de Sigognac’s extensive vintage collection, which includes bottlings dating back to 1830, reflects its rich legacy and craftsmanship.
