Vineyards
The grapes for Alandes Gran Cabernet Franc 2019 are sourced from vineyards in the Uco Valley, Mendoza, one of Argentina’s most esteemed wine regions. The valley’s high altitude (over 1,000 metres above sea level) and cool climate provide ideal conditions for growing Cabernet Franc, allowing the grapes to ripen slowly while maintaining vibrant acidity. The vines are cultivated using sustainable and traditional agricultural methods, with controlled drip irrigation to ensure optimal water use. The unique combination of rocky alluvial soils and cool nights contributes to the wine’s complexity and refined structure.
Winemaking
This wine is made from 100% Cabernet Franc. After hand-harvesting, the grapes undergo meticulous selection on a double sorting table to ensure only the finest fruit is used. Fermentation takes place in small concrete tanks with native yeasts, followed by a two-week maceration period to extract colour, flavour, and tannins. The wine is then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, adding depth, complexity, and subtle oak influence. Karim Mussi’s commitment to artisanal winemaking is evident in every step of the process, resulting in a wine that is both expressive and elegant.

Palate
On the palate, Alandes Gran Cabernet Franc 2019 is full-bodied and well-structured, with concentrated flavours of dark berries, currants, and black cherries. The wine showcases the hallmark herbaceous character of Cabernet Franc in a beautifully integrated manner.
