Vineyards

The vineyards for L’Accent de La Roquete are situated in the prestigious Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation, characterised by its diverse soils, including the region’s iconic galets roulés (rounded pebbles). These soils retain heat and enhance ripening, while the Mediterranean climate provides ideal conditions for Grenache and Mourvèdre. The old vines used for this cuvée ensure low yields and concentrated flavours, resulting in a wine of exceptional depth and complexity.

Winemaking

The 2005 vintage is a blend of 90% Grenache and 10% Mourvèdre, crafted with meticulous attention to detail. Grapes were hand-harvested and sorted for optimal ripeness. Fermentation was carried out in temperature-controlled vats to preserve the purity of the fruit. The wine was aged 100% in large foudres, enhancing its texture and allowing for the development of nuanced flavours. Minimal intervention and traditional methods were employed to reflect the estate’s commitment to terroir-driven wines.

Appearance

Deep ruby with a garnet rim, highlighting its concentration and maturity.

Nose

The bouquet is rich and inviting, with notes of kirsch liqueur, black raspberry jam, and dried herbs. Subtle hints of liquorice, tobacco leaf, and spring flowers add layers of complexity.

Palate

Full-bodied and opulent, the palate reveals intense flavours of black raspberry, kirsch, pepper, and exotic spices. The wine’s multi-layered texture is supported by firm tannins and balanced acidity, leading to a long, sumptuous finish with lingering notes of liquorice and incense.

Food pairing

This wine pairs beautifully with roasted meats such as lamb, duck, or beef, as well as hearty stews. It is also an excellent match for Mediterranean dishes featuring herbs like rosemary and thyme, or a selection of aged cheeses.
