Vineyards
Beaune Clos des Couchereaux Premier Cru 2017 is made from a prestigious single vineyard in the heart of Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune. The Clos des Couchereaux vineyard, classified as a premier cru, features limestone-rich soils with a mix of marl and clay, providing excellent drainage and a unique mineral character to the wine. The vines, averaging over 40 years of age, are cultivated using sustainable viticulture practices, ensuring the health of the soil and the expression of the terroir.
Winemaking
The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted to ensure only the finest fruit is used. Fermentation takes place in open-top stainless steel tanks with wild yeasts, followed by gentle extraction through punch-downs and pump-overs. The wine is then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 30% of which are new, allowing the wine to develop complexity and integrate its structure with finesse.
Appearance
Bright ruby red with garnet reflections.
Nose
The nose is aromatic and refined, offering notes of ripe red cherries, cranberries, and wild strawberries, complemented by hints of rose petals, earthy truffle, and a touch of cinnamon.
Palate
Medium-bodied and elegant, with fine-grained tannins and a vibrant acidity. Flavours of red berries, pomegranate, and a subtle earthiness are balanced by delicate oak spice, leading to a long, harmonious finish with mineral undertones.
Food pairing
This wine pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, duck confit, or beef bourguignon. It also complements earthy vegetarian dishes like wild mushroom risotto or roasted root vegetables, as well as soft cheeses such as Brie or Camembert.
