Vineyards

The Ornellaia 25th Anniversary 2010 is a flagship wine produced from the estate’s exceptional vineyards located in Bolgheri, on Tuscany’s stunning coast. The vineyards benefit from a unique terroir comprising well-drained alluvial soils with a mix of clay, sand, and gravel, along with maritime influences that moderate temperatures and promote slow ripening. The vines, averaging 20-25 years of age, are cultivated with meticulous care to ensure the highest quality fruit.

Winemaking

The grapes—a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot—are hand-harvested in the early morning to preserve freshness. After meticulous sorting, fermentation occurs in temperature-controlled stainless steel and concrete vats. Each variety and vineyard block is vinified separately to capture the unique characteristics of each parcel. The wine is then aged for 18 months in French oak barrels, 70% of which are new, followed by an additional 12 months in bottle before release.

Appearance

Deep garnet with a ruby rim, reflecting its concentration and elegance.

Nose

The bouquet is opulent and complex, with aromas of ripe blackcurrant, plum, and blackberry, interwoven with notes of cedar, tobacco, and sweet spice. Subtle hints of graphite and cocoa add further depth.

Palate

Full-bodied and luxurious, the palate reveals layers of dark fruit, such as black cherry and blueberry, complemented by nuances of liquorice, vanilla, and earthy undertones. The tannins are fine-grained and perfectly integrated, while the balanced acidity provides freshness and energy. The finish is long and refined, with lingering notes of black pepper and dark chocolate.

This wine pairs beautifully with rich, savoury dishes such as braised short ribs, grilled steaks, or roasted game. It also complements aged cheeses, such as Pecorino Toscano or Parmigiano-Reggiano.
