Vineyards

Casa Santiago Merlot 2023 is made from grapes grown in the Central Valley of Chile, an area renowned for its ideal grape-growing conditions. The vineyards are situated at altitudes of 200–400 metres above sea level, benefiting from a Mediterranean climate characterised by warm days and cool nights. This significant diurnal temperature variation aids in the slow ripening of grapes, preserving acidity while enhancing fruit concentration. The vineyards are managed sustainably, with careful attention to soil health and biodiversity.

Winemaking

This Merlot is made using 100% Merlot grapes, handpicked at optimum ripeness. After a gentle destemming, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperatures to preserve the fresh fruit character and varietal purity. The wine undergoes a short period of aging in stainless steel to retain its vibrant profile, with no oak influence, ensuring a fresh and approachable style.
