Vineyards
Champagne Duménil 1er Cru 2013 is made from Premier Cru vineyards in the Montagne de Reims. The chalky soils and cool Champagne climate provide an ideal terroir for producing complex, elegant wines with excellent freshness and minerality. These Premier Cru sites are carefully managed, reflecting the house’s dedication to sustainable viticulture and the preservation of biodiversity.
Winemaking
A blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay, this vintage Champagne is produced using the traditional méthode champenoise. The wine undergoes primary fermentation in stainless steel tanks to preserve freshness, followed by secondary fermentation in the bottle. The wine is aged sur lie for a minimum of 6 years, enhancing its complexity and allowing the development of its refined character. Dosage is kept low to maintain the wine’s purity and expressiveness.
Appearance
Golden straw in colour with fine, persistent bubbles.
Nose
Aromas of ripe pear, baked apple, and citrus zest dominate, complemented by subtle notes of brioche, toasted almonds, and delicate floral undertones.
Palate
The palate is rich yet fresh, offering layers of orchard fruits, lemon curd, and white peach. The creamy mousse is beautifully balanced by vibrant acidity, while hints of hazelnut and mineral chalkiness lead to a long, elegant finish.
Food pairing
Ideal with refined dishes such as seared scallops, lobster in beurre blanc, or roast chicken with truffle. It also pairs beautifully with soft cheeses like Brie de Meaux or as an apéritif for celebratory moments.
