Vineyards
The Sangiovese and Canaiolo grapes are sourced from Uggiano's vineyards, which stretch over the hillsides joining Montespertoli with Montelupo Fiorentino and San Casciano Val di Pesa. These areas are characterised by a combination of clay and limestone soils, providing an ideal environment for cultivating these traditional Tuscan varieties. The vineyards benefit from a Mediterranean climate, with warm days and cool nights, contributing to the grapes' balanced ripening and the wine's complex flavour profile.
Winemaking
This Chianti is a blend of 90% Sangiovese and 10% Canaiolo. The grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and undergo fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve their fresh fruit character. Following fermentation, the wine is aged in large oak casks, which impart subtle complexity without overpowering the primary fruit flavours. The wine is then bottled and allowed to rest before release, ensuring harmony and balance.
Appearance
Bright ruby red colour, indicative of its youth and vibrancy.
Nose
The bouquet is fragrant and persisting, which reminds immediately of the cherry and the sour black cherry.
Palate
On the palate, the entry is dry, lightly tannic: with time, it becomes softer and velvety with an agreeable aftertaste.
Food Pairing
This versatile Chianti pairs well with savoury first courses, roasted and grilled meats.
