Vineyards
Sourced from Viña Dagaz's Pumanque Vineyard in the Colchagua Valley, Chile. Located 34 km from the Pacific Ocean at an altitude of 238 metres, the vineyard is planted on rolling hills with granitic soils rich in quartz, promoting excellent drainage and root development. The temperate Mediterranean climate, influenced by cool coastal breezes, ensures optimal ripening conditions for the grapes.
Winemaking
Made from a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Carménère, the grapes undergo meticulous hand-harvesting and selection. A cold soak at 8°C for four days precedes fermentation, which lasts three weeks, followed by a 10-day maceration. The wine is aged for 10 months in used French oak barrels, imparting subtle oak nuances that complement the fruit character and terroir expression.

Background story
Viña Dagaz, established in 2015 by renowned winemaker Marco Puyo and Patricio Gomez-Barris, is situated in the Colchagua Valley. The name 'Dagaz' is derived from a Celtic rune symbolising 'the beginning of a new path,' reflecting the winery's dedication to crafting authentic wines that represent the unique terroir of Pumanque. Drawing inspiration from regions like the Côtes du Rhône, Galicia, and Rioja, Viña Dagaz focuses on sustainable viticulture and minimal intervention winemaking to produce elegant wines with mineral characteristics and good acidity.
