Origin and production
This Armagnac records the 1970 harvest through a single-vintage eau-de-vie selected by Baron de Lustrac. The house works with small properties in Bas-Armagnac and Ténarèze, drawing on local growers whose vineyards and traditional methods produce spirits with individual character.
The young wine was distilled in Gascony and matured for many years in oak at the producing estate. Baron de Lustrac then selected the cask and oversaw its final preparation and bottling at Nogaro, retaining the identity of the vintage rather than blending it away.
Tasting notes
Appearance
Deep amber with clear mahogany depth and glints of burnished gold.
Nose
Dried plum, fig and orange rind meet vanilla bean, toasted oak and a faint floral echo of violet.
Palate
Broad and smooth, with caramelised pecan, runny honey and baked fruit developing into clove and cocoa. The warmth is measured, and a dry, wood-spiced line carries the finish with impressive length.
Serving suggestions
Allow a 25 ml measure to rest in a tulip-shaped glass before sipping neat. Try it with dark chocolate truffles, prune and Armagnac tart, or roasted nuts; its mature complexity also makes accompaniment entirely optional.
Background story
Vintage bottling is central to Baron de Lustrac's identity. Each year is selected for its own profile from a long-standing circle of growers, giving the collection the character of an archive assembled from many corners of the Armagnac region.
The 1970 offers both sensory depth and the resonance of a clearly stated harvest year. It is supplied in a cardboard sleeve, making the presentation suitable for a milestone gift as well as a private collection.
