Vineyards and winemaking

Sacchetto Silver combines Glera with a small proportion of Chardonnay from north-eastern Italy. Glera supplies the wine's floral, apple-led freshness, while Chardonnay adds a little breadth and softens the edges without obscuring the light-footed Prosecco character.

The base wines are fermented in stainless steel and the gentle second fermentation takes place under pressure, creating the lower, softer level of sparkle associated with frizzante. The emphasis is on clean fruit, freshness and immediate drinking rather than prolonged maturation.

Tasting notes

Appearance

Bright pale straw with green-gold flashes and a delicate, lively stream of bubbles.

Nose

Green apple and Williams pear are joined by lemon blossom, acacia and a subtle hint of white peach.

Palate

Light, crisp and gently rounded, with orchard fruit, citrus and a soft prickle of carbonation. Chardonnay brings a little texture through the middle, while the finish is clean, refreshing and lightly floral.

Food pairing

Serve well chilled as an aperitif, or with calamari, smoked salmon blinis, courgette fritters, or a simple chicken and herb salad. The gentle sparkle makes it particularly easy with light canapés and informal gatherings.

Background story

Cantine Sacchetto is a family producer in Veneto whose range brings together the region's established sparkling-wine tradition and a modern, accessible style. Stainless-steel production protects the fresh aromatics at the heart of its Prosecco wines.

The silver presentation gives this frizzante an unmistakably celebratory appearance, while the wine itself remains relaxed and versatile. Its softer sparkle offers a useful alternative for drinkers who find fully sparkling Prosecco too forceful.
