Vineyards and winemaking

Fulget is made from 100% Albariño grown on Maior de Mendoza's slopes in the Val do Salnés, close to the Ría de Arousa and the fishing village of Carril. Granite and sandy soils, ample ventilation and a cool Atlantic influence give the grapes bright acidity and an aromatic balance of orchard and stone fruit.

The 2024 fruit was hand-harvested and vinified in the traditional local manner, including skin maceration and malolactic fermentation. This distinguishes Fulget from the estate's Cuvée bottling, lending a softer contour and a gently grassy, rounded expression without losing Albariño's natural vitality.

Tasting notes

Appearance

Clear straw yellow with pale green highlights and a fine youthful brightness.

Nose

Peach, medlar and green apple mingle with pear skin, lemon balm and a subtle tropical note. A faint balsamic freshness adds lift and keeps the fruit well defined.

Palate

Fresh yet softly rounded, with white and stone fruit carried by clean acidity. Malolactic fermentation smooths the edges without making the wine heavy, and a gentle herbal note returns on the long, balanced finish.

Food pairing

Pair with grilled sardines, hake in parsley sauce, chicken and herb terrine, or broad-bean risotto. Its supple freshness is equally comfortable alongside sushi, vegetable tempura or a simple plate of steamed mussels.

Background story

Maior de Mendoza stands on vineyard slopes overlooking Carril, where the Barros family has worked with Albariño since the 1970s. The estate's large early plantings helped anticipate the modern rise of Rías Baixas, while more than three decades without herbicides have reinforced its commitment to healthy soils and manual cultivation.

Fulget looks to the area's familiar vinification traditions rather than the extended lees ageing used for the Maior de Mendoza labels. The 2024 therefore presents a different face of the estate: approachable and fruit-led, but with enough texture and Atlantic acidity to remain distinctly rooted in the Val do Salnés.
