Vineyards and winemaking
Reserva Terroir Blend unites Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Cão from selected Quinta Nova parcels in the Cima Corgo. The estate’s steep schist slopes, ranging widely in altitude and exposure, give each component a different balance of perfume, fruit, tannin and mineral tension.
The 2019 grapes were harvested by hand and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel before maturation in French oak. The élevage adds polish and savoury complexity to an already concentrated blend, while the estate’s parcel selection preserves clarity and freshness.
Tasting notes
Appearance
Dense garnet-purple, bright at the rim.
Nose
Blueberry, cassis and black raspberry are layered with violet, dried herbs, cedar and dark cocoa.
Palate
Full-bodied and precise, with concentrated black fruit, fine tannins and a firm schist-derived core. Liquorice, tea leaf and toasted spice gather on a long, structured finish. Stand upright before opening and decant gently after tasting; bottle development may vary.
Food pairing
Serve with roast venison, braised beef shin, lamb shoulder with rosemary or a mushroom and walnut pithivier. Aged hard cheeses complement its depth and savoury oak.
Background story
Terroir Blend is built around Quinta Nova’s detailed understanding of its 41 vineyard parcels. Rather than presenting a single variety, it uses several traditional Douro grapes to translate the estate’s different slopes and microclimates into one layered Reserva.
Quinta Nova’s history extends beyond the Douro’s first formal demarcation in 1756, and its original cellar dates from 1764. Under the Amorim family, owners since 1999, the property has developed a range that moves from approachable blends to rare parcel wines.
