Origin and production
Amaro Tosolini is made in Friuli from Bepi Tosolini's original family recipe, bringing together more than fifteen Mediterranean and coastal botanicals. Santonego, a marine variety of wormwood, is joined by aromatic herbs, pure grape distillate and Alpine water to create its distinctive bittersweet character.
The botanicals are distilled in small batches using traditional steam stills before the liqueur is rested in oak barrels. Bottled at 30% ABV, it combines herbal depth with freshness and a gently warming finish.
Tasting notes
Appearance
Deep amber-brown with warm copper highlights and a clear, glossy appearance.
Nose
Expressive aromas of bitter orange, gentian and mint open into coastal herbs, dried flowers and a trace of warm spice.
Palate
Rounded and bittersweet, with candied citrus and balsamic herbs giving way to earthy roots and restrained oak. A subtle saline note lifts the mid-palate, while the finish is long, dry and aromatic.
Serving suggestions
Serve well chilled or over a single cube of ice, or lengthen with sparkling water and an orange slice for a refreshing aperitivo. Its herbal bitterness also sits beautifully alongside dark chocolate, aged hard cheese or a plate of toasted nuts.
Background story
Bepi Tosolini founded his distillery in Friuli in 1943, pursuing a more refined expression of the region's traditional grape distillates and liqueurs. The family continues to use artisanal methods, carefully selected raw materials and small-batch production.
Amaro Tosolini remains closely connected to the founder through his own botanical recipe. The use of Santonego gives the liqueur a particularly Friulian sense of place, adding a fresh coastal accent to its darker herbal and citrus flavours.
