Vineyards and winemaking
Casa Santiago Pinot Noir 2024 is made from 100% Pinot Noir grown in Chile's Central Valley at around 200 metres above sea level. Warm sunshine brings the fruit to ripeness, while cooler nights help the thin-skinned variety retain the acidity needed for a light, supple red.
The grapes are destemmed and fermented under temperature control, with extraction kept gentle to avoid hard tannins. The wine is made without oak and remains in stainless steel before bottling, allowing its red fruit, delicate spice and naturally fresh profile to stay in the foreground.
Tasting notes
Appearance
Clear, pale ruby red with youthful crimson glints.
Nose
Wild strawberry and red cherry lead, followed by raspberry leaf, rose petal and a light dusting of sweet spice.
Palate
Soft and rounded, with juicy cherry and raspberry framed by fresh acidity and very gentle tannins. A subtle earthy note adds interest before a clean, lightly spiced finish.
Food pairing
Serve lightly cool with roast duck breast, grilled salmon, chicken and mushroom pie, or beetroot and goat's cheese salad. Its modest tannins also make it an easy partner for charcuterie or a lentil and thyme loaf.
Background story
Founded in 1961, Viña Requingua works across several of Chile's principal valleys while maintaining its historic base at Sagrada Familia in Curicó. The family-owned estate combines modern cellar facilities with certified sustainable practices.
Pinot Noir provides the lighter counterpoint within the Casa Santiago range. Keeping the wine entirely unoaked protects the variety's perfume and makes this 2024 especially approachable, whether served at the table or enjoyed on its own.
