Key production details

The unique aging environment of the estate’s medieval cellars, combined with meticulous craftsmanship, has resulted in a spirit of exceptional depth and refinement. Baron de Sigognac’s commitment to traditional methods ensures the purity and character of each vintage.

Background story

Baron de Sigognac is one of the oldest Armagnac producers in Gascony, with the Guasch family’s history in the region dating back to the 12th century. Situated on 42 hectares of prime Bas-Armagnac terroir near Eauze, the estate has been dedicated exclusively to Armagnac production since 1980. The family cultivates Baco and Ugni Blanc grapes, which thrive in the region’s tawny-sandy soils and microclimate.

The distillation process is performed using a rare in-house copper alembic still from 1921. The resulting eau-de-vie is aged in hand-crafted French oak barrels and stored in cellars with beaten earth floors, allowing the spirit to develop its unique character over time. Baron de Sigognac’s collection includes vintages dating back to 1830, offering an unparalleled insight into the legacy of Armagnac craftsmanship.
