Origin and production
Amaretto Saliza is produced in Friuli from an infusion and distillate of real Italian almonds. Rather than relying on artificial almond flavouring, Tosolini builds the liqueur's character directly from the nuts, capturing both their sweet perfume and gently toasted depth.
Made without artificial colours or flavours and bottled at 28% ABV, it is richer and more naturally expressive than many commercial amaretti. Careful small-batch production keeps the texture smooth while preserving a welcome savoury edge.
Tasting notes
Appearance
Lustrous tawny amber with burnished gold highlights.
Nose
Generous aromas of marzipan and roasted almond are joined by caramelised nuts, orange peel and a delicate suggestion of cinnamon.
Palate
Silky and enveloping, with sweet almond at the centre and enough roasted, lightly bitter nuttiness to maintain balance. Notes of vanilla, citrus oil and soft spice lead into a persistent, warming finish that remains poised rather than cloying.
Serving suggestions
Enjoy lightly chilled, over ice or as the almond element in a refined sour. It is especially good poured over vanilla ice cream, paired with an espresso, or served with pear and almond tart, amaretti biscuits or a simple dark-chocolate dessert.
Background story
The name Saliza recalls the Venetian salizada, or paved street, and the liqueur's label draws on a local legend surrounding a heart-shaped red stone set into Venice's Salizada del Pignatter. The story lends the bottle a romantic connection to the wider culture of north-eastern Italy.
Its natural almond character also reflects Tosolini's Spezieria tradition: a collection of liqueurs shaped by careful infusions, authentic ingredients and the family's long experience with botanical distillation.
