Key production details

Distilled in 1980 at Château de Bordeneuve using a traditional copper alembic still, this vintage Armagnac has matured for over 40 years in French oak barrels. The estate’s ancient cellars, with their unique microclimate and beaten earth floors, provide optimal conditions for the long and steady aging process. Baron de Sigognac’s dedication to traditional methods ensures that each vintage reflects the character of its year of distillation.

Serving suggestions

Serve neat in a tulip-shaped glass to fully appreciate its intricate aromas and flavours. This vintage pairs wonderfully with rich desserts such as tarte Tatin or dark chocolate ganache, and is also ideal for enjoying alongside a fine cigar.

Background story

Baron de Sigognac is one of the most prestigious Armagnac producers in Gascony, with the Guasch family’s presence in the region dating back to the 12th century. Situated on 42 hectares of prime Bas-Armagnac terroir near Eauze, the estate has been exclusively dedicated to Armagnac production since 1980. The family cultivates traditional grape varieties, including Baco and Ugni Blanc, which are perfectly suited to the region’s tawny-sandy soils and unique microclimate.

The distillation process is carried out using a rare in-house copper alembic still from 1921. Each vintage is aged separately in French oak barrels and bottled only when it reaches peak maturity, resulting in Armagnacs of exceptional depth and complexity. Baron de Sigognac’s vintage collection dates back to 1830, offering a true legacy of craftsmanship and history.
