Appearance

Deep amber with copper highlights, showing radiant clarity and rich, slow-forming legs.

Nose

A refined bouquet of dried apricots, golden raisins, and toasted almonds, complemented by hints of vanilla, honey, and a touch of spice. Subtle notes of cedar and cocoa add depth and complexity.

Palate

Silky and well-structured, the palate delivers layers of caramelised fruits, roasted hazelnuts, and spiced orange zest. Balanced by gentle oak influence and a refreshing acidity, it finishes long and smooth, with lingering notes of vanilla and warm spices.

Key production details

Distilled in 1995 at Château de Bordeneuve using a traditional copper alembic still, this vintage Armagnac was aged for decades in hand-crafted French oak barrels. The estate’s medieval cellars, with their unique microclimate and beaten earth floors, create the perfect environment for slow maturation, resulting in a spirit of remarkable depth and complexity. Baron de Sigognac remains committed to preserving traditional methods in every aspect of production.

Serving suggestions

Serve neat in a tulip-shaped glass to fully appreciate its complex bouquet. This vintage pairs beautifully with spiced desserts like gingerbread or poached pears and is an ideal companion for a fine cigar or artisanal dark chocolate.

Background story

Baron de Sigognac is one of the most historic Armagnac houses in Gascony, with the Guasch family’s presence in the region dating back to the 12th century. The estate, located on 42 hectares of prime Bas-Armagnac terroir near Eauze, has been exclusively dedicated to Armagnac production since 1980. Traditional grape varieties such as Baco and Ugni Blanc are cultivated in sandy soils, producing Armagnacs with elegance and finesse.

Distillation is performed using a rare copper alembic still from 1921, and each vintage is aged in French oak barrels until it reaches its optimal maturity. Baron de Sigognac’s extensive vintage collection, which includes bottlings dating back to 1830, is highly regarded by connoisseurs for its authenticity and craftsmanship.
