Vineyards
This Chenin Blanc is crafted from unirrigated vines grown on sandy loam soils over granite bedrock in the Western Cape of South Africa. The dry-farmed vineyards benefit from the natural restriction on yield due to the old vine age, resulting in concentrated fruit and balanced acidity.
Winemaking
After harvest, the grapes undergo a period of lees contact, which enhances the wine's palate weight and complexity. The wine is aged in a combination of stainless steel tanks and a small proportion in older French oak barrels, allowing for a fresh, vibrant expression with subtle texture.
Appearance
Light golden yellow with a clear, bright hue.
Nose
Aromas of baked apple, citrus, and subtle tropical fruit are complemented by delicate floral hints, creating a complex and inviting bouquet.
Palate
This Chenin Blanc is lively and refreshing, with crisp acidity balancing flavours of green apple, lemon zest, and ripe stone fruit. The extended lees contact adds body, while a touch of minerality rounds out the finish.
Food pairing
Ideal with grilled fish, chicken dishes, and fresh salads. It also pairs well with spiced dishes such as Cape Malay curries, offering versatility for a range of cuisines.
