Vinification
Sauvignon Blanc (70%), Semillon (20%) and Muscadelle (10%). After sorting and de-stalking, a maceration of approximately 24H is carried out to increase the structure of the wine and its aromas. The fermentation is kept down at a low temperature (starting at 14°C and ending at 19°C) keeping in the Sauvignon aromas. The maturing on lees give the wine a fleshy quality and good length.

Background story
Owned by the Barde family since 1958, Château Le Raz is located in the village of Saint Méard de Gurçon in Périgord. The Barde family's history in the region dates back to the 13th century with deep roots in agriculture and viticulture. Their 250 hectares of land include cereals and sunflower production as well as 65 hectares of vineyards. A true family affair, multiple generations of uncles, aunts, and cousins work in different aspects of the business.
The vineyards, situated midway between Bergerac and St Emilion, span 65 hectares of clay-limestone hillsides and high sand-clay plateaux with iron-bearing subsoil. The vines, planted on slopes and high plateaux, benefit from densities ranging from 3,300 to 6,500 vines per hectare, ensuring high-quality grape production under the AOP Bergerac, AOP Montravel, AOP Côtes de Montravel, and IGP Périgord appellations. Working in harmony with nature is in the family’s DNA, and they employ extensive environmental and sustainable viticultural practices, such as using natural grass cover and minimal intervention of pesticides.
Château Le Raz's purpose-built, modern, climate-controlled cellar facilities are a testament to their pursuit of quality. The inspired two-floor design allows for gentle grape handling and gravity-fed winemaking, enhancing the elegance and finesse of their wines and preserving aromatic delicacy. The Bergerac Sec is a delightful blend of Sauvignon Blanc (70%), Semillon (20%) and Muscadelle (10%).
