Vineyards
Quinta do Gradil is located in the Lisboa region, where vineyards benefit from the proximity to the Atlantic Ocean and the clay-limestone soils. This setting allows for a natural acidity in the wines, alongside mineral characteristics that enhance freshness and complexity.
Winemaking
The 2017 Reserva Branco is a blend of Chardonnay (40%) and Arinto (60%). Part of the Chardonnay ferments and ages for seven months in a combination of new and used French oak barrels, adding body and complexity. The remaining portion of the blend ferments in stainless steel over 14 days to preserve vibrant fruit character and crispness.
Appearance
Golden yellow with a slight greenish tint, indicating both freshness and structure.
Nose
Elegant and layered, the nose features ripe stone fruit such as apricot, interwoven with citrus notes of lemon and orange, alongside a subtle smokiness from oak aging.
Palate
The palate is well-rounded and full-bodied, offering flavours of citrus, stone fruit, and a touch of almond. Balanced acidity and a mineral undertone contribute to a sophisticated and persistent finish, showcasing the wine’s complexity and aging potential.
Food Pairing
This Reserva Branco pairs beautifully with roasted poultry, creamy pasta dishes, or grilled seafood, enhancing both its freshness and depth.
