Vineyards
Les Levrons is the oldest vineyard on the Berthelemot estate, planted in 1947. This premier lieu-dit within Puligny-Montrachet is renowned for its fine limestone soils and exceptional drainage, producing wines of great finesse and tension. The name "Les Levrons" originates from the wild hares that once populated these fields. The 2022 vintage saw a warm growing season, with well-timed rainfall that preserved freshness in the grapes. The balance of ripeness and acidity was particularly well-managed, leading to a wine that expresses both concentration and elegance.
Winemaking
The grapes were hand-harvested and sorted to ensure only the highest-quality fruit was used. Fermentation took place in French oak barrels, followed by ageing for 12 months with 25% new oak. Lees stirring was performed periodically to enhance texture and depth.
Appearance
Pale gold with silver reflections, highlighting its youthful brilliance.
Nose
Complex and layered, offering aromas of citrus blossom, ripe stone fruits, and hazelnut, with a flinty minerality that speaks to the vineyard’s terroir.
Palate
Elegant yet structured, the palate reveals vibrant acidity and well-defined fruit, with notes of Meyer lemon, peach, and crushed rock. The mid-palate is creamy, balanced by a saline finish that lingers with precision and freshness.
Food pairing
An excellent match for grilled lobster, butter-poached fish, and delicately spiced Asian cuisine. It also pairs well with truffle-infused dishes and soft-ripened cheeses.
